This will be my 4th official amateur boxers reunion, with the first three having taken place in Las Vegas (December 2014), New York City (June 2015) and Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut (July 2015).

Boxers who have attended previous reunions include the likes of four-time world champion Roy Jones Jr., three-time world champions Mike “The Body Snatcher” McCallum and Iran “The Blade” Barkley, WBO heavyweight champion Lamon Brewster, former WBC light heavyweight champion Montell “Ice” Griffin, 1988 U.S. Olympic coach Kenny Adams. NEW YORK, February 8, 2010 — This past weekend two big boxing events on the east coast took place and the action was as hot inside the ring as it was cold outside.  Despite blizzard conditions, crowds in Philadelphia and Newark saw two incredible nights of boxing that started out on Friday from The Legendary Blue Horizon in Philadelphia where USBA Jr. Middleweight champion Derek “Pooh” Ennis scored a fifth round stoppage over Edwin Vazquez.

The next night in Newark, New Jersey, former Light Heavyweight and Cruiserweight champion Tomasz Adamek scored a unanimous decision victory over former U.S. Olympian Jason Estrada in Adamek’s second start as a Heavyweight.  That bout was fought before an astonishing crowd of over 10,000 fans in the Prudential Center in Newark. NEWARK, NJ, February 8, 2010 — Jason Estrada claims he was the victim of an unfair decision in a hotly contested show down in Newark’s Prudential Center on Saturday night. Truth be told, Thomas Adamek won the fight fair and square.

The bout was highly entertaining and was enjoyed by all. Estrada was very game. Jason also worked very well behind his jab. That being said, the crisper, sharper counter punches belonged to the spirited Polish fighter Adamek. (continue reading…)
