‘Iceman’ John Scully Interviews IBF lightweight champ Mickey Bey in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, NV, May 2, 2015 — Two hours after Floyd Mayweather decisioned Manny Pacquiao, former light heavyweight contender and current boxing trainer “Ice” John Scully met up with IBF Lightweight Champion Mickey Bey in the lobby of the MGM Grand Hotel. This is his interview. Of his encounter, he writes the following report:
“One reason I love to attend big fights is because of the fact that it usually evolves into a reunion of sorts for the boxers and former boxers in attendance. Many times the events surrounding the fights are more memorable than the actual fights themselves. LAS VEGAS, Nov. 26, 2013 — Mayweather Promotions is pleased to announce the near completion of the “The Little Creek Brawl” fight card headlined by middleweight contender J’Leon Love (15-0, 8 KO’s) against Philadelphia’s LaJuan Simon (23-4-2, 12 KO’s) on Friday, Dec. 6 from Little Creek Casino Resort in Shelton, Wash., live on ShoBox: The New Generation. The night will feature Mayweather Promotions’ rising stars from top to bottom.
Mickey Bey (18-1-1, 9 KO’s), Badou Jack (15-0-1, 10 KO’s) and Chris Pearson (9-0, 8 KO’s) will face Barinas, Venezuela’s Carlos Cardenas (20-6-1, 13 KO’s), Hermosillo Mexico’s Rogelio Medina (31-4, 25 KO’s) and Santa Catarina, Brazil’s Acacio Ferreira (14-0-1, 12 KO’s) respectively in the televised portion of the event.
