Ferguson Scores first round KO over Williams in Montana

Pacific Northwest cruiserweight prospect Patrick Ferguson (4-0, 4 KOs) added his fourth and most noteworthy win as a pro on Thursday night at the Fort Belknap Casino in Harlem, Montana, scoring a first round knockout over former world title challenger Rubin “Mr. Hollywood” Williams (29-29-1, 16 KOs), of Detroit. An unexpected rain storm had threatened to cause the cancellation of the outdoor event, but after a delay allowed for the storm to pass and crews to clean up the ring, the event went on. The main event of Silver Wolf Fight Promotions’ eight bout pro-am card between Ferguson and Williams was moved to the first pro slot on the schedule in order to ensure the fight went ahead before more rain moved in.

Ferguson, of Spokane, Washington, quickly went to work behind his jab as the fight began and dropped Williams with the first hard right hand he threw, landing it flush on the temple. Moments later he dropped Williams once again, catching him with a crisp one-two counter as his opponent pressed forward. After the action was allowed to resume, Ferguson started working the body, landing thudding hooks to the mid-section that were visibly hurting Williams. A vicious left hook to the side dropped Williams to a knee where he would stay as referee Russ Hansen reached the count of ten at 1:41 of the round.  (continue reading…)

Northwest Prospect Pat Ferguson faces Rubin Williams this Thursday in Harlem, Montana

Pacific Northwest amateur stand-out Patrick Ferguson (3-0, 3 KOs) will headline a card as a professional for the first time in his young career this Thursday at the Fort Belknap Casino in Harlem, Montana, taking on former world title challenger Rubin Williams (29-28-1, 16 KOs) in the six round main event of Silver Wolf Fight Promotions’ eight bout pro-am show.

Ferguson, who in 2015 claimed the U.S.A National heavyweight title in his hometown of Spokane, Washington, turned pro in April of this year and has racked up three straight wins since, scoring stoppages in all three bouts and winning them all within two rounds. In his last fight Ferguson stopped Pendleton, Oregon’s Justin Milani in the second round. With his last three opponents having a combined experience of five pro fights, though, this upcoming fight will mark a considerable step up in competition for Ferguson. (continue reading…)
