Hamburg - 14 May 1999. On 22 May Germany‘s Universum Box-Promotion will make it‘s second expedition to East Europe, when they promote a championship boxing card in the capital city of Hungary.
Istvan Kovacs (Hungary) vs. Nabaloum Dramane
The German managed Istvan Kovacs is a star in his home country of Hungary. Kovacs, the Bantamweight Gold Medal Champion of the Olympic Games of Atlanta, has compiled an undefeated record of 12-0 (5 KO´s) as a professional. In his first appearance in Hungary he challenges the likewise undefeated Nabaloum Dramane, 28-0-2 (19 KO´s), for the African‘s WBC-International Featherweight Title.
Bert Schenk (Germany) vs. Juan Ramon Media-Padilla (Dominican Republic)
In his first defense of his WBO Middleweight Title Bert Schenk from Berlin takes on Juan Ramon Medilla-Padilla from the Dominican Republic. Schenk, 22-0 (12 KO´s), won the vacant title with an impressive 4th round knockout over Freeman Barr in January. He was described as „Best Kept Secret" in the Middleweight division by the magazine „The Ring" in their July issue.
Heavyweight Action with Wladimir Klitschko (Ukraine)
The 23-year-old Wladimir Klitschko, 26-1 (24 KO´s), will fight for the European Championship this year. Beside his single loss has the younger of the two Klitschko brothers knocked out every opponent - either immediately or in the rematch.
On the undercard German Lightheavyweight Thomas Ulrich, 14-0 (11 KO´s) takes on Italian Mario Tonus, 16-2 (11 KO´s). Ulrich, a 1996 Bronze Medallist, is ranked 14th by the WBC. German Super Middleweight Mario Veit, 22-0 (12 KO´s) and ranked 10th by the WBC, faces American Patrick Swann, 17-8-3 (10 KO´s).
Also on the card will be Flyweight Zoltan Lunka, 16-1 (9 KO´s), the undefeated Jr.Featherweight contender Michele Aboro, 11-0 (9 KO´s) and the professional debut of Croatian Stipe Drvis.
