The third fight card at Seven Feathers was a sold-out success with ticketless fans milling outside in hopes of at least getting an autograph from the special guests, Sugar Ray Leonard and Roberto "Hands of Stone" Duran. The joking, friendly Duran (yes, an oxymoron) obliged at ringside and revealed that his pose of speaking no English all these years was deliberate hooey. Leonard supported two fighters from his Washington D.C. managerial stable, Luther Smith and Gary Jones, who were in the co-main events. Former Leonard-opponent Donnie LaLonde, and former Duran-opponent Ray Lampkin of Portland, OR were also in attendance. With Freddy Roach, Tom Goosen and Eddie Mustapha Muhammad working corners, there was a feel of big time boxing at this posh casino in the wilderness.
