"SHADOW BOXERS," is a mesmerizing feature length documentary which has been knocking down prizes at film festivals on two continents for close to a year. A stunning portrait of female boxing star Lucia Rijker, the undefeated 139 lb world champ, the film is largely narrated by her sultry and ultra-smart commentary.

Sharp cutting, gorgeous photography and a spooky, subtle sound track by Zoe make it a pleasure to watch repeatedly. SHADOW BOXERS starts it's premier theater run on Friday, May 12th at New York's Cinema Village (22 E 12th St. between 5th Ave & University) The films' producer, writer and director is Katya Bankowsky, a former amateur boxer who fought in the 1995 New York Golden Gloves and is successful television commercial producer.

The film got a rave review this week in the Village Voice and the lovely Rijker has been in New York doing promo. Word is she will attend the premier.
