THE BOXING REGISTER (5th Edition)
INTERNATIONAL BOXING HALL OF FAME
Official Record Book
By
James B. Roberts and Alexander G. Skutt

This Fifth Edition book is interesting and informative and is an updated and expanded version of past BOXING REGISTER books. It is loaded with facts - brief, well-written essays, photos and selected bouts of the greatest performers who ever entered the ring.

Like previous BOXING REGISTER books, it contains entries for elected members of the International Boxing Hall of Fame from different periods of history - PIONEERS, OLD-TIMERS, MODERNS - and for NON-COMBATANTS (those associated with boxing in various ways - trainers, managers, promoters, writers, announcers, historians, etc.).

Descriptive essays introduce each era of boxing and describe circumstances that fighters from those periods of history experienced. Individual essays (biographical sketches) tell about each elected member of the Hall.

Other interesting reading includes the following essays --

  • Who Rules ? (Boxing's Governing Bodies)

  • Fixes and Fallen Heroes: The Seamy Side of Boxing

  • Boxing at the Movies

  • Heroes and History: The International Boxing Hall of Fame

Also included is a Foreword by Edward Brophy, President of the International Boxing Hall of Fame, and Broughton's Rules of 1743 (laid out in a nice 1,2,3, etc., order).

Here is some comments on prior editions --
