NY BOXING COMMUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN "COUNTERPUNCH!" EXHIBITION/FUNDRAISER FOR TWIN TOWERS FUND

Cooney, Barkley, Czyz, Wepner, & Antuofermo Among Former Boxers To Climb Through The Ropes

The New York boxing community is mobilizing to help the city!

On Wednesday, November 7, at Gleason's Gym, 17 former New York City boxers will engage in a series of exhibition bouts to benefit the Twin Towers Fund.

Gleason's is located at 75 Front Street, Brooklyn, NY. The program will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The Twin Towers Fund was established by Mayor Rudy Giuliani to assist, support, and recognize the families of the members of the uniformed services of the New York City Fire Department and its Emergency Medical Services Command, the New York City Police Department, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the New York State Office of Court Administration, and other government offices who lost their lives or were injured because of the tragedies of September 11, 2001, at the World Trade Center.

Every dollar given to the Twin Towers Fund is going directly to help the victims' families, especially those among the rescue workers.

"The New York boxing community has been incredibly supportive," said event coordinator Steve Farhood. "This was a tragedy that touched everyone, and this event is the boxing community's way, at a grass-roots level, of helping out.

"It promises to be a memorable evening, with plenty of surprises, too."
