Fred Dyer
(Fred O'Dwyer; the "Singing Boxer")

BORN   April 29 1888; Cardiff, Wales
HEIGHT 5-8
WEIGHT 145-155 lbs

Dyer was a capable scrapper who fought during a period of very good fighters; He was not a power hitter but was a talented boxer-type; He lost only 18 of 70 bouts but scored just 13 knockouts; At all times, Dyer showed that he could hold his own with the best and he might have gone further in boxing if he had given his ring career full attention

Fred traveled the world and spent much of his time as a singer and stage entertainer; He began in Wales and visited Great Britain, Australia, the United States and France; During his career, he battled such men as Les Darcy, William Bryan Downey, "Panama" Joe Gans, Tommy Robson, Bob McAllister, Pal Reed and Joe Eagan
