Harada was a tough and scrappy battler; He lost only seven of 62 contests; During his career, he won the WBC Bantamweight Championship of the World, the WBA Bantamweight Championship of the World and the WBA Flyweight Championship of the World

Fighting Harada kayoed Pone Kingpetch for the Flyweight title in 1962 but lost a rematch; Harada moved up in weight and won the Bantamweight title from Eder Jofre in May 1965; After four defenses,he lost his Bantamweight title to Lionel Rose in 1968; Harada retired after two losses to Featherweight king Johnny Famechon.

Among those he defeated were Eder Jofre, Bernardo Caraballo, Dwight Hawkins, Alan Rudkin, Jose Medel, Antonio Herrera, Pone Kingpetch, Hiroyuki Ebihara, Nobuo Chiba, Hajime Taroura, Katsutoshi Aoki, Riichi Tanaka, Ray Perez, Shigeru Ito and Ray Asis

Harada was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1995
