Winters declined to fight after the ninth round; Hynds declared Erswell the
winner

Oct 13 -Hynds was keeping "The Capitol" (the largest saloon in Cheyenne)
The Phila times reports Hynds was once a blacksmith and had won
several fights prior to the John Clow contest; After that fight,
he retired from the ring and blacksmithing and bought the saloon
which he developed into the largest and best-patronized one in
Cheyenne; In just a couple of years, he amassed over $65,000
