McGuigan was a scrappy competitor who battled some of the top men of his time; He is most famous for his war against Joe Walcott and his bouts with John Banks; After his boxing career (some say he fought well into his 50s), he opened The Casino in Harrison where he promoted fights; Dances were held there too

During his career, he defeated such men as Harry Bartlett, Paddy Carney, Austin Mitchell and Harry Nagle

Paddy is a member of the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame
