Kim was a talented fighter who compiled a career record of 33-2-2 with 17 knockouts; During his career, he won the WBC Light Middleweight Championship of the World, the WBA Light Middleweight Championship of the World, the OPBF Middleweight Championship and the Middleweight Championship of Korea

Ki-Soo defeated such men as Nino Benvenuti, Freddie Little, Stan Harrington, Hisao Minami, Benkei Fujikura, Masao Gondo, Fumio Kaizu, Roberto Pena, Sakuji Shinozawa and Makoto Watanabe
