Jack Munroe

BORN   June 21 1877; Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada (Some sources report June 28 1875; Chester, Pennsylvania; Yet, others report June 26 1874 at Upper Kempt Head, Boularderie, Nova Scotia, Canada)
DIED February 13 1942; Toronto, Ontario, Canada

WEIGHT 180-208 lbs

Munroe was extremely well-muscled and very strong; He was not a polished boxer but fought much like the heavyweights of the last 30-40 years; He relied upon his strength and power and traded punches with his foes

When World War I began, Munroe enlisted in the famous Princess Pats of Canada; He lost the use of his right arm at the battle of Vimy Ridge, at Armentieres, when he was struck by a bullet; He later served as mayor of Elk Lake, Ontario for a period of time; Munroe was very popular as a speaker

During his career, he defeated Peter Maher and "bested" Tom Sharkey in a "No Decision" contest
