TONEY SURGERY A SUCCESS
Summer Return Eyed for "Lights Out"

LOS ANGELES, January 26 - James "Lights Out" Toney, three division world champion and current heavyweight contender, underwent surgery on his ruptured left Achilles tendon last Friday, and the operation was a complete success. "It was a clean tear, so the tendon was easier to repair," said Dr. Tony Daly, Toney's physician, as well as the Team Orthopedist for the NBA's Los Angeles Clippers. Toney suffered the injury while sparring in preparation for a February 7th bout with Jameel McCline.

Dr. Daly expects Toney to resume normal activity with no lasting effects, while pointing out that he has not seen the Achilles tendon injury to be a career ending one. "James can start working out his upper body as early as this week." Dan Goossen, Toney's promoter, is unquestionably pleased with the results of the surgery and Toney's future prognosis. "It was a relief when Dr. Daly said James would be back as strong as ever after rehabilitation and that he should be able to make his return to the ring this summer," said Goossen. "The amount of e-mails we have received from fans all accross the country since the injury has been incredible. It's just another testament to James' ever growing popularity in boxing."

James Toney will be back, this injury is just a minor setback. This injury just grants James Toney another opportunity to sneak up on the heavyweight division again.

I hope TONY saved his money because he will be unable to come back to anywhere near the level he was before the injury. The heavyweight division has lost some excitement without TONY.
