Former World Champ Mike Weaver to Attend Lucky Eagle Fight Night 44
Press Release

On Saturday, Feburary 7th, former heavyweight world champion, Mike Weaver is expected to attend Fight Night 44 to watch his popular younger brother, Troy Weaver (18 wins with 18 ko's!) face Jose Hilton Santos (11-4 with 8ko's) in the eight round preliminary bout at the Lucky Eagle Casino in Rochester, WA. The elder Weaver won world titles for the WBA, WBF, USBA, and NBA. Troy is one of three triplets, all boxers, and is very popular for the incredible power in his punches. Santos is from Sao Paulo, Brazil, and this will be his first bout in the USA.

Sebastian Valdez was to face Tim Shocks for a NWBA title fight, but developed a severe flu and will be replaced by Dewey Welliver (14-7-1 with 4 ko's) who will face Reggie Davis (9-2 with 5 ko's) in the 10 round non title main event. Both are Seattle area locals that are very popular. Welliver is the younger brother of heavyweight favorite Chauncy.

Former Canadian Heavyweight champion Shane Sutcliffe will face Wesley Martin. Sutcliffe won in a decision in 1995 over Martin, but both have an impressive resume of opponents. Sutcliffe fought David Tua, Trevor Burbick (twice) and defeated Gerald Jones for the Canadian Championship in 1999. Martin lost to James Toney but held Rudy Nix to a draw in 1998.

Additional Bouts:* Damion Hatch vs. Brock Stodden 5 rounds* Angelo Torres vs. Juan Ramon 4 rounds* Alejandro Martinez vs. Steve Conklin 4 rounds* Joage Tarig vs. Hector Reynoso 4 rounds

Changes and additional information will be announced as they occur.

Tickets $40 ringside, $25 reserved, $20 reserved of general admission available at Ticketmaster, casino (800-720-1788) or Twin Cities Fuller's stores.

Looks like the old Lucky Eagle really cleaned out the Tacoma Bus Depot to fill this card..A main event featuring ancient Wesley Martin 13-40-8-7ko, who has lost his last 15, been ko'd in eight of those against a long washed up Shane Sutcliff who hasnt boxed in 2 years..A feature bout with 40 year old Troy Weaver against an over protected, Jose Santos that has never beaten an opponent with a winning record. Here is the problem with boxing; Promoters that utilize the cheapest of washed-up boxers and commisions that allow this to happen..Meanwhile, young talent goes unworked and un-rewarded.. Should we go to see "Low Budget Benny and His House of Bums". Nix-Nien-Nay-Nada-NO WAY
