Forrest and Reid to meet in exciting welterweight clash

Promoter Art Pelullo/Banner Promotions and DiBella Entertainment will present a sensational bout on the April 24 fight card at The Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. Teddy Reid, 22-5-1, with 16 knockouts, of Adelphi, Maryland, will fight former WBC welterweight world champion Vernon Forrest, 35-2, with 26 knockouts, of Augusta, Georgia, in a bout scheduled for 10 rounds at 154 pounds.

The fight will be co-featured with the vacant WBC heavyweight world championship main event matching WBC No. 1-ranked Vitali Klitschko against No. 2 Corrie Sanders. The main event and co-feature will be televised on HBO.

Pelullo said today, "It's a terrific fight. Teddy Reid has proven time and again that he is one of the most exciting fighters in the ring today, and can turn around any fight with one punch. This is the biggest fight of his career, and he's going to be very motivated.

"Vernon Forrest has already proven himself as one of boxing's best. This is his first fight since the two losses to Mayorga, and he's going to be looking to make a definitive statement that he's back."
