Mass Boxer, Dave Hamilton Dies in Car Wreck

Middleboro, MA - The CBZ is sad to report that boxer Dave Hamilton of Brockton, MA, died in a one-car accident on Route 44 in Middleboro this morning. According to reports, while Hamilton was driving his son Marcus to daycare at approximately 7:30 A.M., his car swerved off the road and crashed, killing him instantly. When officials arrived at the scene, Hamilton was pronounced dead. As of this writing, young Marcus, 4, is said to be in critical condition at a hospital in nearby Providence, RI.

Hamilton, known as "The Hammer" was a rugged-looking journeyman boxer from Massachusetts. Though he was very limited in terms of skills and stamina, which may have had to do with atshma, Hamilton always fought his heart out. Trained by popular boxing coach, Goody Petronelli also of Brockton, Hamilton was an opponent for among others, world IBF light heavyweight champion, Glencoffe Johnson and top contenders such as Eric Harding and Jermaine Taylor. He was a fixture in the New England boxing scene and was often featured on promoter, Rich Cappiello's shows. On April 23rd, Hamilton faced comebacking Mike Bonislawski in a bout ruled a technical draw. The likable Hamilton 33 years old and compiled a record of 15-12-2 with 5 KO's and 20 no-contests.

On behalf of everyone at the CBZ, our deepest condolences and sympathy go out to the family and many friends of the Dave Hamilton. Rest in peace Hammer.
