A NIGHT OF BOXING, JUNE 25 IN WHIPPANY
Ross Thompson Headlines against Rico Cason

June 16, 2004 — A press conference for next week’s “A Night of Boxing” took place yesterday at the beautiful Siena Restaurant in Kinnelon, NJ. Promoter Andre Kut announced the lineup for this exciting June 25 event that will take place at the beautiful Hanover Marriott in Whippany, NJ.

Headlining will be Ross “The Boss” Thompson in a 10-round middleweight bout against the durable Rico Cason. In his last appearance Thompson lost a close decision to top-ranked Antwun Echols on the undercard of the Juan Manuel Marquez-Manny Pacquiao world featherweight championship fight in Las Vegas. Looking fit and trimmed, Thompson promised to use the abilities that carried him to 12 victories at the start of his professional career. Andover Township’s Kut has been instrumental in getting Thompson to accept the fact that “it’s now or never” if he’s serious about challenging for a world title. Thompson feels that his new approach of staying within the middleweight limit between bouts, has enable him to focus more in the technical aspects of his opposition rather than draining himself to make weight.

Also at the press conference was Wendy LaMotta who will be making her pro-debut against Myriam Bazile of Miami, FL. The attractive 31-year-old has been looking for this moment for a long time after an extensive and successful amateur career. Among her most notable accomplishments during her amateur career are two Golden Gloves titles, a Diamond Gloves championship and a NJ State Championship title. A native of Fords, NJ (she now resides in Hoboken), she was rated as high as No. 5 in the country as a bantamweight and holds the record for Fighter of the Night trophies (6). Wendy is a registered nurse at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ and attends New York University where she’s pursuing a master’s in Public Administration.

Also on the card will be undefeated Dennis Sharpe (17-0) facing Daniel Neil (8-1-1) in an eight-round special attraction. Undefeated light heavyweight prospect Victor Paz, managed by well-known manager Pat Lynch of Arturo Gatti fame, will see action against Anterio Vines of Ohio in a four-round slugfest.

The first bout is slated to begin at 7:30pm immediately proceeding the pre-fight cocktail hour for VIP Ringside ticket holders. The Hanover Marriott is located at 1401 Route 10 East in Whippany, NJ (973) 538-8811.

Tickets, priced at $35 General Admission, $50 Reserved, and $100 VIP Ringside, are still available and can be purchased at the following locations:
