“Clash for Cash: Under The Stars” press conference
August 6 outdoors at Fraser Field, Lynn
Oliveira proclaims, "The monster is back!"

LYNN, Mass. (July 22) – A press conference for the August 6th “Clash for Cash: Under The Stars,” headlined by “Sucra” Ray Oliveira (46-9-2, 22 KOs) and Frankie “The Surgeon” Randall (59-15-1, 42 KOs) fighting for the vacant IBU world welterweight title, was held today at the same site of the show, the new Fraser field in Lynn, Massachusetts.

Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment & Sports, Inc. (CES), in association with ENB Productions and Mohegan Sun, is promoting “Clash For Cash: Under The Stars.” ENB is a group comprised of Eddie Andelman, sports talk radio show host at WWZN 1510 The Zone; Nick Lopardo, owner of the North Shore Spirit independent baseball team in Lynn; Bill Blumenreich, owner of the Comedy Connection.

The card, broadcast live on Boston’s Boxing Station -- WWZN 1510 The Zone, will feature five New England title matches ranging from heavyweight – 1996 U.S. Olympic Team captain Lawrence Clay-Bey (20-2, 15 KOs) -- to featherweight. A portion of the proceeds will go to The Joey Fund and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. In case of rain the show will be moved to the following evening at the same site.

“My father brought me to my first fight outdoors at Braves Field,” Andelman said. “It is great bonding and we’re already seeing a lot of fathers and sons buying tickets to this show. These kids are going to get a good payday and we’re paying the fighters directly, not to the promoters or managers. There will be a 60-40 split of the purse (in New England Championship matches) with 60-percent going to the winners. It’s something new that we think will be more productive. We want to make New England Championships really mean something again. It’s going to be a great night of boxing. Fifty-six of the seats – there isn’t a bad seat in the park – are only $24. This is the start of making legitimate championship fights in Massachusetts. It’s a new era.”

Tickets are priced at $200.00 Platinum (limited to 120 seats), $150.00 Gold ringside (first row); $100.00 Silver ringside (second row); $75.00 Bronze reserved, $45.00 reserved box seats, $35.00 reserved grandstand, and $24.00 general admission (upper grandstand). To purchase tickets call CES’ corporate headquarters (401.724.2253/2254), WWZN 1510 The Zone (781.221.7878), North Shore Spirit (781.592.0007), Concourse Ticket Agency (617.247.1888), Hub Ticket (617.426.8340) or Friend Street Ticket (617.523.0040). Press Conference Quotes

“Sucra” Ray Oliveria – “This (Fraser) is an old-time looking field and I hope fans will come out to see this old-time fighter with more than 50 pro fights. I’m coming to break Randall. I was supposed to fight him 10 years ago, but it didn’t work out. I want to put the belt (IBU World welterweight) around my waist for the second time. I want to win a major title, get back into Ring’s ratings, and fight on HBO. It (career) never ended. The monster is back.”

John “Iceman” Scully (Lawrence Clay-Bey’s head trainer) – “Lawrence is a correctional officer who works the midnight shift and gets off at 7 am. He got called back for double duty today and could be here. But he’ll be in the gym at 3. Lawrence is excited about this fight, especially because it’s for the New England title, and he’s always wanted a belt. He’s happy (Jason) Pires is on the show because their old friends.”

Featherweight “School Boy” Jason Pires (20-3, 9 KOs) – “It’s great to be back. This is a great opportunity for me. I’ve been training hard in the gym and had good sparring. I’m excited Clay-Bey is on the card. It’s an honor being on the same card with one of my best friends, Ray Oliveira, and Clay-Bey.”

Middleweight Elvin Ayala (6-0, 1 KO) – I’ve been training hard for this fight and see you all at the fights.”
