“Clash for Cash: Under The Stars” postponed LYNN, Mass. (August 2, 2004) – Citing the lack of available, qualified New England boxers, officials today announced the postponement of Friday night’s scheduled pro boxing show, “Clash for Cash: Under The Stars,” at Fraser Field in Lynn, Massachusetts.
“The whole idea was that we were committed to activating New England championships,” founder Eddie Andelman explained on behalf of EBN Productions and his partners, Nick LoPardo and Bill Blumenreich. “We’ve postponed the show and plan to have it as soon as we can get good New England boxers fighting each other in six original weight classes – heavyweight, light heavyweight, middleweight, welterweight, lightweight and featherweight. All tickets will be fully refunded. We know that we’re on the right track with nearly $45,000 in the till with a week to go. If we can’t hold it outdoors, we’ll rent an indoor facility. We’re very happy with Jimmy Burchfield and will ask him to remain onboard as the promoter of the show.
“It’s nobody’s fault. We just couldn’t get enough good New England fighters on the show at this time. The combination of some other boxing shows in this area, restricting the availability of a few potential challengers, along with injuries, and a limited pool of qualified New England fighters made it impossible to do this show the way we wanted to by this Friday. Frankie Randall wasn’t going to be in the main event, as originally advertised, because he was arrested. We felt that we had to postpone the show, but we’ll be back.”
