Hurriciane Frances Curtails Hopkins Traning Camp in Florida, Heads to Vegas for Final Prpeparations

MIAMI, FLORIDA, - Middleweight champion Bernard Hopkins, who has been training in South Beach, Miami, Florida for the past month in preparation for his September 18 mega-fight against Oscar De La Hoya, will break camp a week early to “duck” Hurricane Frances, the Category 4 Storm heading towards the Southeast United States.

“The Gym where I train is boarding up their windows and South Beach is emptying out,” said Hopkins. “I’m used to ducking big punches, and I plan on ducking Frances who I heard is carrying a powerful punch.”

Hopkins will relocate to Las Vegas tomorrow to finish final preparations for the fight. “Nothing will stop me from fighting Oscar De La Hoya,” said Hopkins. “I haven’t been knocked out in the ring yet, I won’t be knocked out on September 18 and Hurricane Frances can’t do it either.”
