JAKUBOWSKI RETURNS FOR PRE-THANKSGIVING SHOWDOWN
MERRILLVILLE- Octavius James/ONE IN A MILLION INC. , announced today that Whiting Light Welterweight Marty Jakubowski will return to action on November 19th at the "Pre-Thanksgiving Showdown" card at the Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza Celebrity Ballroom in Merrillville, Indiana. This will be the first bout back for Jakubowski who fought in front of a sold out audience back in April.
"I am holding to my commitment to Octavius James and team ONE IN A MILLION to help bring boxing back to it's prominence in Northwest Indiana," said Jakubowski. "It has been years since the fans in this region have had the type of quality boxing shows that Octavius puts on and I'm just proud to be apart of the team."
"I'm excited that Marty will be on this card along side our up and coming talent," said James. "We are more excited about dedicating this show to Joey Golubic who suffers from Cerebral Palsy. " A generous portion of the proceeds from this event will go toward getting Joey a new automatic lift that he needs for dad to day activities."
The November 19th card will also feature a sensational clash between IN.B.A. Lightweight Champions Johnny Novak and Ryan Maraldo over eight rounds. Both were scheduled to face each other on the September 17th card. Maraldo who injured his left hand in training caused him to pull out. They will now face off on this Showdown card.
"This is going to be a war," exclaimed James. "These guys have been verbally exchanging words and both want to leave the ring as the Lightweight champion. It will be a classic war."
Other local boxers expected to see action include Gary's own undefeated Light welterweight prospect Jermaine White, "Marvelous" Shay Mobley of Chicago, Hammond's own Light Heavyweight Guy Solis, Middleweight Jimmy Holmes of Demotte and Chicago's Matt McCarthy. ONE IN A MILLION INC. undefeated middleweight Prospect Michael Walker of Chicago was scheduled for this card but will now appear on a October 15 National Televised Solo Boxeo card against David Estrada.
