(Chicago, IL): Ivan Rodriguez (1-0), a former three-time Chicago Golden Gloves champion, Silver Medalist at Ringside National Championships 2002 and veteran of 120 amateur fights will be fighting his second professional bout this Friday, October 15th. Sporting a tough beard and a crowd pleasing all-action, slugging style, he looks to make good on his obvious potential. Hailing from Waukegan, Illinois, this natural 122-pounder will be fighting at 130 because it’s difficult to find suitable opponents in his weight class to match up with.

However, that’s soon going to change. He’s already got a sponsor and soon plans on joining his teammate, junior welterweight prospect Al “Speedy” Gonzales out in California, where there are plenty of lighter weight opponents—and sparring partners—to pick and choose from. Under the watchful eye of famed trainer Jesse Reid--who coincidentally is being inducted this weekend into the World Boxing Hall of Fame in California--and co-managers Pat Doljanin and Albert Falcon, Ivan wants to get in the fast track that Gonzales is already enjoying.

Rodriguez will be fighting at Hawthorne Race Course in Chicago on Dominic Pesoli’s 8 Count Productions and Top Rank’s “Latin Showdown.” Portions of the fight card will be broadcast on Telefutura.
