Bunema, Headlines Denver Title Bout Doubleheader on November 19th

DENVER, Colorado (November 3, 2004) - Promoter Ryan Madden of Lyon Sports Group, Inc. in conjunction with local promoter Aurelio Martinez, is bringing a double-header WBC sensation to Denver on Nov. 19 at the National Western Complex, Expo Hall II

WBC Super Welterweight Continental Americas Champion Alex Bunema will defend his title against Alberto Mercedes; and Denver’s own super-lightweight contender Donald Camarena will fight for the WBC world youth championship.

Bunema won the WBC Continental Americas title on Nov. 14, 2003 when he defeated Anthony Shuler (14-1-1) by unanimous decision in Seattle Washington. He's fought top caliber fighters like J.C. Candelo, Kassim Ouma, Bronco McKart and Jermain Taylor, and continues to work his way toward a world title shot.

Camarena, the pride of Colorado, has swiftly caught the attention of boxing enthusiast across the country with his recent captures of the WBC Intercontinental Mundo Hispano and the C.A.M. (Canadian-American-Mexican) belts. In his short 30-month professional career, Camarena has advanced from rookie to prospect to contender. It’s not uncommon to hear Camarena’s name mentioned along with champions Floyd Mayweather Jr., Miguel Cotto and Arturo Gatti.

Camarena is training hard in preparation for his first shot at a world title. He will be the co-main event on the card, fighting Marteze Logan of Tennessee.

Unlike regional titles, the WBC youth title carries the glory of worldwide recognition:

With the professional Youth World Championship we will have an organization that will care for boxers, open the doors for opportunities and cover the big step from amateurism to a world championship. - Jose Sulaiman, WBC

Tickets are now on sale at $60 ringside, $40, $30 reserved seating, $25 general at all King Soopers and TicketsWest outlets. www.ticketswest.com
