A Letter From Kostya Tszyu Thanking His Loyal Fans! Dear Tszyu Crew,
It has been two weeks since my win over Sharmba Mitchell in Phoenix and the days have just flown by. I am enjoying my holiday now with my family and reflecting on what I have achieved. The success of this fight was not only mine, but belongs to each and every one of you in the Tszyu Crew. You are all so inspirational to me. The e-mails and faxes sent to me in the two weeks leading up to the fight, and particularly those I received on the morning of the fight, helped me so much. I read each and every one and they helped motivate me to be at my best for my return. I was flying after reading your words. I was so pleased to read your comments and they helped me believe. All of our actions come from our mind and it made me believe that I was doing the right things to succeed.
The fight itself went in fast forward and there were not as many rounds as I thought there would be. I would rate it as one of my best ever performances. When you take into account all of the circumstances surrounding the fight, my two injuries and the time away from the ring, the win gave me great satisfaction. I have never made the weight so comfortably and this was very important to my success. My conditioning both mentally and physically was the best I have ever had. When I returned home to Sydney on the Tuesday morning after the fight, the reception I received was unbelievable. I feel special when I see this. I am a very easy going person, but receptions like this make you feel that you are something special. It is a great, great feeling. Everyone I have talked to has told me how much they enjoyed the fight and this makes it all worthwhile. Of course, after the excitement of the win, everyone now wants to know when I will be back in the ring again. My team has started on making a new deal for my next fight in 2005. We will look at all the possibilities out there with my good friends at Showtime, but we won’t know for a number of weeks what the future holds. I am looking for a challenge to make myself prepare mentally. The mental challenge is the most important consideration when I decide upon my next fight. Remember the Tszyu Crew rules always!
