"Super Fight I" Kicks off Super Bowl Weekend 2005 with a 1-2 Punch!

Golden Boy Promotions and Juba Entertainment Present "The Fight Before the Fight" February 4th;Telefutura to Televise!

LOS ANGELES, December 9, 2004 – It’s the biggest weekend on the calendar for sports fans, a three-day period leading to the granddaddy of all sporting events – Super Bowl XXXIX. But Alltel Stadium won’t be the only place to find hard-hitting action, as Golden Boy Promotions, in association with Juba Entertainment, is proud to present SUPER FIGHT I “The Fight Before The Fight” on Friday, February 4, at the 5,800-seat University of North Florida Arena.

This high-impact card of professional boxing, which features highly regarded super middleweight contender Librado Andrade in the main event, will be aired live on Telefutura’s “Solo Boxeo” beginning at 9pm ET.

“Golden Boy Promotions is honored to be part of the greatest weekend in professional sports, the Super Bowl weekend,” said promoter Oscar De La Hoya.

“Just like the original Super Bowl concept started many years ago, we believe that we are starting with Super Fight I a new concept which will grow over the years and capture the interest of sports fans from around the world. I can promise you that Friday night's action in the ring will be a fitting prelude to the action we will see on Sunday afternoon on the field!"

In a continuing effort to place boxing back where it once was during its golden age, Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions, launched in 2001, has rapidly established itself as one of the leading promoters in the sport, and De La Hoya believes that breaking conventional stereotypes about boxing and its athletes is the only way for the sport to truly succeed.

Golden Boy Promotions’ partnership with Juba Entertainment is one of the first steps in this process, and with the joining of forces; “SUPER FIGHT I” is destined to become one of the most popular fixtures of Super Bowl weekend. In fact, Detroit’s 20,000-seat Joe Louis Arena is already in sight for “Super Fight II”, which would take place on the weekend of Super Bowl XL at Ford Field.

"We are excited about Super Fight being a part of the Super Bowl week festivities,” said Michael Kelly, President of the Super Bowl Host Committee. “It has been one of our goals to have a diverse and comprehensive calendar of events and we are appreciative of Juba Entertainment and Golden Boy Promotions for bringing this dynamic event to the Jacksonville community for Super Bowl week."

Juba Entertainment, a Los Angeles based company with offices in Jacksonville, has made a firm commitment to bringing top quality events to the Jacksonville area during Super Bowl weekend, and with the 1-2 punch of CEO Michael Huyghue (the former Senior Vice President of Football Operations for the Jacksonville Jaguars) and President Carnell Lake (a former NFL All-Pro and UCLA All-American) partnering with Golden Boy Promotions will give boxing fans a night to remember on February 4.

“With Oscar’s involvement, we will deliver the world’s top boxing talents to the city of Jacksonville,” says Huyghue. “The fact that the event is happening on the cusp of the Super Bowl makes it even more exciting as we’ll be able to open up the matches to a worldwide audience. We expect both the fans of the Super Bowl and the viewers of Telefutura Network to enjoy this event.”

To kick off “SUPER FIGHT I” series, undefeated super middleweight Librado Andrade will be in action against an opponent to be determined. The current NABA and NABO champion at 168 pounds, the hard-hitting La Habra, California resident brings the heat with each and every fight. In 2004 alone, Andrade scored three consecutive wins over world-class opposition, dropping his foes to the canvas a combined ten times in the process. On February 4, Andrade will begin his 2005 campaign with a world championship on his mind.

An exciting 5-bout undercard will be announced shortly. Doors open at 7 p.m, and the first bell rings at 8 p.m.

Tickets for “The Fight Before The Fight”, priced at $39-$100, are available at the University of North Florida box office, or by calling (904) 620-2878. For VIP tickets, contact Juba Entertainment at (904) 301-3030.
