Maraldo Calls Out Novak For "Slugfest 2005" Indiana State Lightweight Championship Battle!
MERRILLVILLE, IND.- IN.B.A. Lightweight Champion Ryan Maraldo, of Indianapolis, said Indiana State Lightweight Champion Johnny Novak better be ready to give up his belt on the "Slugfest 2005" card January 21 at the Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza in Merrillville, Indiana. " I'm determined to show Novak, the same way I did Galvan the last time I fought on a One in a Million [fight card]," Maraldo said. "Ryan's been talking a lot, saying things like I know how he beat Ruben Galvan for the belt," said Novak, of Hammond. "He's trying to get into my head, but he has to realize I'm not Ruben and when he comes to fight on January 21 he better pack a lunch. "I'm the champion, and I'm not giving my belt up to him he will be giving his belt up to me," said Novak.
The Novak-Maraldo match-up will be the main event at "SLUG FEST 2005". Other fighters scheduled to appear include Hammond light welterweight Ruben "Modern Day Warrior" Galvan, who had several televised fights last year, Gary's knockout artist Angel Hernandez and Chicago light middleweight Trinidad Garcia. Michael "Midnight Stalker" Walker, a Chicago middleweight prospect who enjoyed a national televised victory fight last year, will also fight on the January card. Walker is expecting more televised appearances this year. And just added to the card fast rising featherweight Ivan Rodriguez. Novak comments come just days after Maraldo, had an interview with local news paper reporters, did more than just "call out" Novak, said One in a Million, Inc. CEO Octavius James. "Boxing is exploding in Indiana, and this will be a fight that will start 2005 off with a bang," James said. "So, when one fighter makes certain comments about another boxer, especially one who holds a title, word gets around quickly." James said. This is going to be a war with these unifying the State Lightweight titles. "One in a Million's" "Slugfest 2005" will be held in the Celebrity Ballroom of the Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza. Doors open at 7 p.m., with the first bell ringing at 8 p.m. Tickets are available now, and fans are encouraged to buy early. One in a Million's last show brought in a record breaking crowd and a sold-out show year last November.
