CES signs Irish middleweight Joe “Sugar” Rea

PROVIDENCE (January 12, 2005) – Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment & Sports, Inc. today announced the signing of Irish middleweight prospect “Joe “Sugar” Rea, now fighting out of South Boston, to a promotional contract.

The 21-year-old native of Ballymena had a 67-10 amateur record in Ireland. Rea, trained by Goody Petronelli, turned pro last April and is 2-0 (1 KO) with one “no contest.”

“I asked Joe how serious he was about his boxing career,” Burchfield explained his meeting with Rea. “I told him I’d only sign him if he fought at 160 pounds. He agreed and we look forward to him fighting on our next show. CES is looking to sign good young fighters. I’m excited about a tough Irishman fighting out of Boston.”
