Undercard to March 11 Thornton-Shabazz Rematch Announced BOSTON, MA (February 17, 2005) – Promoters Martin Ward and Danny Kelly have announced the undercard for the Friday night, March 11, 2005 pro boxing show being dedicated to the memory of late trainer Jimmy Farrell, Sr. at the United States National Guard Armory in Dorchester. There has been a change in the six-round middleweight co-feature, as Worcester’s Bobby McAndrews (2-4-1, 2 KOs) will now face Canadian Keith Sonley (4-10-5, 1 KO), instead of Ireland’s Packie Collins. “We are working out details with an opponent for Ireland’s Packie Collins (13-2-1, 4 KOs),” said Kelly. “We hope to announce something shortly.” Stoughton’s Chris McInerney (1-0, 1 KO) is scheduled to Fred Johnson (0-1, Cincinnati, OH) in a four-round cruiserweight contest. Quincy middleweight J.P. Keane will make his pro debut against Philadelphia Bilai Burns, seeking his first win in a scheduled four-rounder. Cruiserweight Sean Kennedy, of Weymouth, is slated to make his pro debut in taking on Vidal Middlebrook (1-7, Cincinnati, OH) in a four-round match-up. Undefeated Boston police officer Tyrone Smith (2-0, 1 KO) will be opposed by New York mixed martial artist turned boxer, Jerry Spiegel (2-1, 1 KO) in another four-round cruiserweight tilt. The card is headlined by a middleweight rematch between “The Irish Assassin” Martin Thornton, now of South Boston, and Khalif Shabazz, of Bellows Falls, VT., scheduled for eight rounds of boxing. Tickets for the March 11 are priced at $35 (Ringside) and $25 (General Admission) and may be purchased in advance at the Tara Pub, 1921 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester, or the night of the fight at the US National Guard Armory, 70 Victory Road, Dorchester.
