Penalosa headlines Friday night show in Lynn Penalosa, reigning WBF super flyweight champion, fights out of his native Philippines. He has been inactive since capturing the WBF title last November by registering a seventh-round TKO of Bangsaen Sithpraprom. The slick southpaw squares off against Felix Murillo (15-3), who replaced Colombian veteran Reynaldo Hurtado Arendo. 2003 Pan-Am Games silver medalist Castulo “El Poderoso” Gonzalez (4-0, 1 KO), fighting out of Wilmington (MA) via Guatamala, in his first six-round match faces New York City featherweight John Seme in the co-feature. Also on the card in four-round matches are popular Waltham heavyweight Matt Coppola (1-0, 1 KOs) against Elija Dickens, of Philadelphia, in his pro debut; Haverhill via Dominican Republic junior middleweight Angel Vargas (1-1, 1 KOs) faces Rashand Bland, of Cincinnati; Lynn junior middleweight Andy Rivera (1-0) vesus David Johnson, of Cincinnati, making his pro debut; Marlboro junior middleweight Bobby McAndrews fights TBA.
