HEAVYWEIGHT HARRISON VICTORIOUS OVER DAVIS Temecula, California (June 9, 2005) – After a year long lay off, unbeaten heavyweight contender, Audley “A-Force” Harrison scored a seventh round technical knock out over a tough Robert Davis (31-7, 19 KOs) to remain undefeated and advance his professional record to 18 wins from 18 contests (13 KOs). The referee stopped the fight after 2 minutes and 21 seconds of the seventh round following a series of right and left hooks from Harrison.
Davis went down in the first round and although he proved competitive throughout the fight, it was Harrison who landed with the majority of the bigger punches with his left hook scoring comfortably. In round seven, Harrison opened up his arsenal throwing a series of left and right hooks that forced the referee to stop the fight.
“It’s been difficult for me to have to sit out this past year to heal my injury,” said Harrison. “I am just glad to be back.”
Although it took him a while to get his rhythm and timing going, Harrison used his size, strength and boxing ability to dominant Davis.
Harrison continued: “Once I relaxed and figured out my opponent’s tactics, I was able to use my jab, look for opportunities and take advantage of them when I could.”
The fight took place at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula and was broadcast live on Fox Sports News’ Best Damn Sports Show Period (BDSSP). The fight will air on a tape delay basis on Sky Sports 2 on Friday 10th June at 22.00 hours (UK Time).
Harrison will now return to Las Vegas and head straight back to training for what he hopes will be another fight in the coming months
