MERRILLVILLE, IND.- Jimmy "The Fighting Schoolteacher" Holmes puts his undefeated record and boxing dreams on the line in a title bout against a fighter with twice as much experience on One in a Million, Inc.'s "Battle Of Independence" card July 8th, 2005 at the Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza in Merrillville, IN.

Holmes, Johnny "Kid One In A Million" Novak and Undefeated Light Welterweight Jermaine "Too Sweet" White fill the next action-packed card with three championship fights before what is expected to be a sold out crowd, said Octavius James, CEO of One in a Million, Inc.

In a special salute to the men and women of the armed forces, James said representatives from the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard will be invited and acknowledged during the show.

"Sports fans have been coming out in droves to our shows because they know the kind of excitement they'll get from guys like Jermaine and Jimmy," James said. "We're also going to use the night to honor our men and women in the armed forces for all they do."

Holmes, of Demotte, Ind., said he has been preparing for this moment since he first stepped into the ring. The July championship fight means more than a belt to him.

"A lot of people have put their time, energy and their hearts into my success, and there's no way I'm going to let them down," Holmes said. "It doesn't matter to me how much experience Vance Garvey has, because I plan to take him apart and wrap that belt around my waist."

"Battle Of Independence" will also feature a hot mix of experience and youth. Hammond's Ruben "The Modern Day Warrior" Galvan and Chicago's own "Marvelous" Shay Mobley each bring histories of main event performances and internationally televised fights to the ring.

And, two-time Illinois and Indiana and Chicago Golden Gloves Champion "Merciless" Mary McGee, of Gary, continues her path to the top of women's boxing in "Battle of Independence."
