Toney to Battle Lubwama in Crossroads Fight
ESPN2 Friday Night Fight's return to Brockton, MA on July 29th

Brockton, MA- Former world title challenger Rodney Toney, 27-4-4 17ko's will be taking on "The African Express," James Lubwama, 16-2 9ko's at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton, MA. ESPN2 Friday Night Fight's will televise what should be a dynamic outdoor event. Toney, a Boston native, has a win over Charles Brewer and draws with both William Joppy and Silvio Branco. "James Lubwama is just another obstacle in my way," said Toney. "After I win impressively on ESPN I think the guys who have been ducking me will want to fight." According to Toney's manager Pride Favors after a win over Lubwama Team Toney is looking for a date with USBA lightheavyweight champion George Khalid Jones.

Lubwama is a crafty veteran who burst onto the scene with an upset victory over unbeaten former amateur star Randy Griffin. Last month he fought to a controversial draw with Kenny Ellis. For Lubwama a win over the surging Toney could give his career a much needed jump start. In the eight round co-feature, Hartford's Mike "Machine" Oliver 8-0 4ko's steps up and takes on once beaten Darby Smart, 8 wins 3ko's. After nearly a two year layoff Oliver is fighting for the third time in 2005 as his career seems to be building momentum. The undercard features some top New England prospects with the Morganelli brothers Nick and Mike. Also on the card are undefeated Castulo Gonzalez, and Gerry Grealish as well as once beaten Anthony Russel. The event is being promoted by Rich Cappiello.
