According to a source close to the fighter, Kidd "got hit and lost his legs. George (Hernandez) attended to him, and called the paramedics." Kidd was rushed to Mount Sinai Medical Center. "Nobody will be allowed to speak to him for several days. I don’t see him fighting on the 13th, which is when he was scheduled to fight next. We’re all staying close to the phone waiting to see what happens next. Our prayers are with him." He continued, "Boxing is a very serious sport the consequences of which you have to take very seriously. Sports, period, are not without injuries and people need to take that into consideration before they get involved, especially those involving contact.” George Hernandez, who trains Kidd, is credited with saving his life with his quick thinking and actions. Chicago light welterweight contender, David Diaz said, "unfortunately that’s the way this sport sometimes is. Nobody's immune to that. Everybody could someday end up hurt. My prayers are with him and his family and I hope he comes out okay." Our thoughts and prayers are also with Giuseppe Kidd.
