CHICAGO - Earlier this summer, 6' 4" 240 lb. UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion Andrei Arlovski trained heartily at JABB Boxing Gym in preparations for his bout with dangerous striker Paul Buentello at UFC 55. In this particular session, Andrei worked the bags, performed mitt drills with his boxing trainer, Mike Garcia, skipped rope and did various abdominal work.

At one point following mitt drills, Arlovski and Chicago junior welterweight contender David Diaz engaged in a playful grappling session, which ended quickly with Andrei locking up with Diaz, falling backwards in a 360 degree move, with him ending up on top of Diaz, where he playfully rained down faux blows on Diaz. Afterwards, David complained that he had to change his shirt, as Arlovski's garment--which was drenched with sweat--had wet Diaz' T shirt in their playful tussle.

Serious again, Arlovski skipped rope at length, and then went to work on various leg raises, crunches, and twisting crunches with Mike Garcia's assistance and supervision.

A former super featherweight contender at 26-0 with 18 KO's, Garcia instructed and pushed his charge well.

Afterwards, Andrei Arlovsk granted this writer an interview.

Juan Ayllon; So how is training going?

ANDREI: I started training hard. The second week when I started training three times a day.

Juan Ayllon: Where are you in this stage of your training? How would you describe this section of your training?
