Super Fly Champ Martin "El Gallo" Castillo Rematches with Munoz!
World Boxing Association Super Flyweight Champion Martin "El Gallo" Castillo returns to action on Saturday, November 12th, 2005 in a rematch against tough Venezuelan contender Alexander Muñoz. Castillo (29-1-0, 16 K.O.'s), originally from Mexico City, Mexico and now residing in Huntington Park, California, convincingly defeated Muñoz this past December, knocking down the Venezuelan twice en route to a unanimous decision on Telefutura's Solo Boxeo. Since the starching of Muñoz, Castillo has defended his W.B.A championship successfully against fellow 1996 Olympian Alumni Erik Morel and Hideyasu Ishihara.
The bout versus Castillo and the Venezuelan is featured on H.B.O. Pay Per View as support to the evening's main event between Vitali Klitschko and Hasim Rahman, a bout which will be watched through out the World. "El Gallo" recognizes what an excellent opportunity his appearance on the under card presents. "Vitali is recognized through out the World as one of the best heavyweights, the World will be watching. I dominated Alexander the first time and I have to be just as impressive, if not more. This is my opportunity to showcase my skills only to Mexican and Latino fans, but to the entire World. Hopefully there will be bigger bouts for me in the near future." Frank Espinoza, the President of the Espinoza Boxing Club and manager to Castillo and the current International Boxing Federation’s Junior Featherweight Champion Israel Vazquez, had the following comments. "Martin is a true talent. I have been with the kid since he went professional, following the Atlanta Olympics. A lot of people have been sleeping on his incredible skills as a boxer, but some are starting to take notice. While he is a superb technical boxer, Martin is not scared to mix it up and give the fans their moneys worth. I think those that have never seen Martin are in for a treat this November." Castillo is in the midst of his training camp for the bout with Muñoz at the Maywood Activity Center, where he is trained by Manuel Robles.
