CICERO, IL, October 14, 2005- On the undercard of the Jose Luis Lopez bout, Antoine Hicks(0-2-0) went toe to toe with newly signed 8 Count fighter, Michael Gonzalez (2-0-2KO), giving boxing fans something to talk about on the ride home. Gonzalez prevailed via TKO in round two. Round one- Gonzalez and his opponent Hicks start the fight with jabs, but nothing to please the crowed until Hicks started to be the aggressor in round one. With not much hesitation Gonzalez brings his game up and gives Hicks two hooks to the face.
Round two- While Hicks moves around the ring Gonzalez looks for the right opportunity, and finds it. With a stiff left hook Gonzalez knocks Hicks to his knees. Hicks brings himself back up to his feet ,but continues to be knocked around by Gonzalez. The ref stops the fight as he sees Hicks unable to continue. Gonzalez wins by technical knockout with a 1min and 31sec in round two. Miguel (Macho) Hernandez Decisions Jeremiah Torres Miguel (Macho) Hernandez and Jeremiah Torres get into the swing of things in Cicero IL, but only one comes out the better swinger. Its the first fight of the night and Cicero's boxing fans are out at the Local gym to view some “Latin Fire” boxing. First boxer in to the ring is Jeremiah Torres(7-8-1KO). Torres taps his gloves and moves his head from side to side in a stretching motion while he waits for his opponent Miguel (Macho) Hernandez (16-3-9KO). As Macho makes his way to the ring it's apparent that Macho is a local favorite. He is greeted by cheers and applause's by some locals fans. While the ring announcer introduces the boxers and the ref you see Macho's two young boys taunting their father's opponent (Torres) with some pretty fancy shadow boxing (maybe a young fighter in the making). As the ring clears and the bell rings the fight begins. Round One- Torres is the fist one to jab as if in testing the water. Hernandez not coming back with any thing, moves around looking for a good spot to start. While the round progresses Hernandez goes for the the power punches ,but not connecting as well as he would like to. With many swing from both boxers not landing you hear Hernandez' trainer telling him to “step it up.” Round one ends with no taker. Round two- Hernandez holding a bit off the the power punches, Torres comes in with more swings than in round one and landing them. While Hernandez covers up his face Torres connect three good body shots. In response to Torres's shots, Hernandez comes back with two great hooks to the head right before the bell ending round two. And round three- Hernandez' belt seems to be a bit loose. He begins to lift every few second, but not keeping his eye away from his opponent. Both fighter looking to connect. Torres is the first with a few to the body, but gets tide up. As soon as the ref breaks them apart Macho Hernandez lands a good uppercut onto Torres's face. Hernandez again connecting two great hooks before the the bell of round three. Round four- With both boxer holding their ground and showing some good boxing skills round three starts and ends with Torres and Hernandez still showing stamina. Round five- The round starts of with both boxers nodding their heads in good sportsmanship. Torres, the first one out of his corner, but not the first to swing. Torres and Hernandez swing away at each out though out the entire round. Sixth and finale round- As Macho Hernandez' kids yell out “Macho Time”, Hernandez tries to make it “Macho time”, but just doesn't seem to find time. Hernandez ends the fight with hit to the back of Torres's head after the bell. Miguel (Macho) Martinez is pronounced the winner by decision 59 to 55. Cruiserweight Mike Nevitt stops Jason Media Mike Nevitt (9-0-0) and Jason Media(1-3-0) face each other for a spirited, but short bout.
Round one- Nevitt was definitely the better and faster contender lands a GREAT upper cut onto Media's right eye making the ref pull Media to the side to check his eye. Media is allowed to continue to fight with a red swollen eye, but is not able to damage his opponent in return. Media continues to take hits to the middle and to the already red swollen eye. Round one end and with Media not being able to see well the fight is stopped and Mike Nevitt is the winner by Technical knockout.
