CHICAGO, IL - As people throughout the U.S. celebrate Thanksgiving, a handful of people from the Chicagoland area wanted to take a few moments to convey their wishes for a happy and safe celebration. They share their warm thoughts in the passages that follow.

"I want to say happy Thanksgiving to everybody at Cyber Boxing and tell everybody in the Chicagoland area and fight fans that they all have a very good Thanksgiving and a safe one and they eat a lot of turkey!"

--David Diaz, lightweight contender

"For the holidays, I would like to wish them a happy Thanksgiving. And, hopefully, they stay tuned for more good boxing in Chicago. You know, we’re going to end the year with some surprises, some good fights and keep supporting us, man. Without them, boxing won’t get anywhere in Chicago. We need them to come out and support us. Our fans area really, really, really hard; they expect the best of out of us. It makes us want to come out and train harder.

We have great fans out here in Chicago and I want to thank them for everything and wish them the best!"

--Miguel Hernandez, middleweight boxer

"Boxing has made a complete change. You know, it has made a complete change from when I started. I hope it’s getting more exciting, I hope it gets some new stars and I hope this coming year will be a prosperous one for all the fighters that are trying to make a career out of it and let this Thanksgiving be a blessed one for all of those that are trying to seek their dreams and continue on searching their dreams."

--Jorge Hernandez, boxing trainer

"8 Count would like to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday season. Thank you for all your support. We look forward to a great 2006! Rockin’!"

--Dominic Pesoli, boxing Promoter of 8 Count Productions and owner of JABB Boxing Gym

"This "Thanksgiving" I would like to thank all my new friends in the "boxing community" who share their sport and their time with me. It is so great that so many people who are involved with the sport of boxing have let me and my camera capture their high moments and at times their low moments during the past year. To all in the Chicago boxing scene be healthy, be happy during the upcoming year and thanks for letting me be a part of your boxing scene."

--Tom Barnes, Photographer, new boxing fan.

"Happy Turkey Day man! I'm in Cleveland right now in the middle of a blizzard. Hope eall is well.

--Ben Torres, CBZ writer

"Hey, Howlers! Coyote Duran from www.doghouseboxing.com here hoping you and all of yours, no matter who or where you are, are having an amazing Thanksgiving! It's cold in my neck of the woods and it might be in yours so stay inside and fill up on the bird and the cocoa if ya got it. Naturally, on Thanksgiving we all think about the things we're most thankful for and at the very least, I'm thankful that I get to wake up every single day. It's so easy to take advantage of just being alive and not think about how fortunate you are to be alive. Every single day can be a holiday if you let it. I'm also thankful for having a fantastic wife, children and pets who are all healthy and safe and I give thanks for getting to do what I do, write about the greatest sport in the world. You can't dream up a better job for a fight fan. I hope you all can give thanks for what you have, too. No matter how meager or grand.

Happy Thanksgiving!"

"Happy Thanksgiving and a merry Christmas and holiday season to all. I appreciate the warmth and openness that you, the fighters, promoters, boxing people and fans have shown me. Ditto for all those at the CBZ! It’s been a fun ride meeting, interviewing and writing about you. You’re the best! I look forward to new adventures ahead.

I’m also thankful for life, family, and friendships—new and old. I love you. In this life, there are troubles, but there are also blessings and opportunities to be had.

A special greeting and thanks to our troops overseas. We owe a special gratitude to you. Thank you so very much for putting it all on the line like you have.

God bless each and every one of you this holiday season!"
