Ricardo Castillo Headlines, Gilbert Venegas in Co-Main This Saturday!
The main event of the evening features Ricardo Castillo, 22-2 (14KO's) of Mexicali, Mexico in a ten round super featherweight bout. Castillo is on an eleven bout winning streak, most recently knocking out Phillip Payne on October 7, 2005 at the Aladdin Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV. He will be accompanied to the ring by his brother, two-time world champion Jose Luis Castillo. Jose Luis twice fought Diego Corrales this year, avenging the controversial "Fight of the Year" loss this past May by knocking out Corrales last month.
The co-main event features the return to the 8 Count Productions' ring of Gilbert Venegas, 9-1-1 (6KO's) now fighting out of Chicago, IL. Venegas, who will be featured in an eight round welterweight bout is coming off a brutal fifth round TKO of Steve Vincent last month at Cicero Stadium, a bout televised internationally on Solo Boxeo. A special attraction bout will be an Illinois State Light Heavyweight Championship featuring undefeated Mike Nevitt, 10-0 (5KO's) of Chicago, IL. Nevitt's last bout was a third round TKO win over Jason Medina at Cicero Stadium on October 14th at 8 Count Productions' "Latin Fire" event. Just added to the card is heavy handed Chicago prospect Rudy Cisneros, 8-1 (7KO's) who will appear in a scheduled six round bout. This past Friday night Cisneros devastated Moises Martinez at the Aragon Ballroom with a first round knockout. Also featured on the undercard is Chicago's finest women's boxer, Rita Figueroa, 5-0 (2KO's) who will battle in a six round junior welterweight bout. This past September Rita won a six round hard fought decision over Maria Nava which had the large crowd at the "Viva Mexico" event on their feet numerous times applauding both participants. Rounding out the undercard is Chicagoan Jose Ortega, 4-0 (3KO's) who will featured in a six round junior welterweight bout. Additional information on this event will be announced shortly.
