KO Artists Double Header with Rubio & Matthysee Headline December 8th in San Diego!

LOS ANGELES, December 3 - With spectacular knockouts, world championship showdowns, and rising stars, 2005 has been another stellar year for HBO Latino's hit series "Oscar De La Hoya Presents Boxeo De Oro." So as a holiday gift to fight fans, Golden Boy Promotions is pleased to keep the hits coming as it presents two of boxing's biggest punchers in their year-ending bouts on Thursday, December 8th, live from Fourth and B in San Diego, California.

In the main event, junior middleweight contender Marco Antonio Rubio (31-2-1, 28 KOs) begins to gear up for a big 2006 as he faces Russia's Aslanbek Kodzoev (16-1-1, 11 KOs) in a ten rounder, and in the co-featured bout of the evening, unbeaten Argentinean knockout artist Walter D. Matthysee (23-0, 22 KOs) takes on always tough Xavier Tolliver (20-4, 13 KOs) in a ten round welterweight contest.

Both bouts will be aired on HBO Latino?s "Oscar De La Hoya Presents Boxeo De Oro" beginning at 10pm ET / PT.

Torreon, Mexico's Marco Antonio Rubio is, without question, one of boxing's most exciting fighters. At 25, this hard-hitting young man has left a path of destruction in his wake that has seen him stop such quality opponents as Jorge Vaca, Fitz Vanderpool, Frankie Randall, Grady Brewer, and previously unbeaten David Toribio. Most recently, Rubio, who is ranked eighth in the world by the WBC and tenth by the WBO, scored a fourth round TKO over Leon Pearson in August, and he has won five bouts in a row since his only pro defeat against Kofi Jantuah in 2004.

24-year-old Aslanbek Kodzoev is another rising star with just a lone defeat on his record. And since that loss in 2001 to Vitali Tsypko, Kodzoev has never looked back, winning 11 of 12 fights with one technical draw. Included in these victories was a win over Sergey Tatevosyan for the Russian championship, and a 12 round win over Jerry Elliott for the WBC International title. Winner of his last two bouts by knockout, Kodzoev, would love to end 2005 with a win over Rubio.

A top ten contender in three of the four major sanctioning bodies, Argentinean banger Walter D. Matthysee will finally make his United States debut on December 8th. A WBO Latino and WBC Mundo Hispano champion, the 27-year-old from Santa Fe has not heard a judge render a decision on any of his bouts since his fourth pro fight in 2003. That's a string of 19 knockout wins.

College Park, Georgia's Xavier Tolliver is not about to go away quietly though. A five year veteran of the sport, Tolliver is currently riding a streak of his own seven wins in a row, with two consecutive knockouts. A win over Matthysee will catapult the WBC Fecarbox welterweight champion into the world rankings and set him up for a big 2006.

A full slate of exciting undercard bouts will be announced shortly.
