Danish promoter Bettina Palle has signed up lightheavy Anders Hugger Nielsen and Claus Bertino, a heavyweight. Both, especially Hugger Nielsen, have good credentials from the amateurs. They will make their debut on the Kessler vs Lucas show January 14 in Copenhagen with Hugger Nielsen, 136-36 with the vest on, in against Martin Nielsen, 13-0-1 in the pros and 30-12 in the amateurs. Martin beat Anders in the Danish championships in 02 and then turned pro and have done well winning the IBF Youth title in his last fight in November of 04 but then came a lengthy layoff and there were rumors he had retired. The fight is scheduled for 6x3.

Armin Dollinger and Ralf Reimer clash for the vacant GBA 175 lb title Janaury 5 in the headliner of a 12-fight show at the Alabama Club in Munich.

Norwegians Reidar Walstad and Kim Jensen head for Stockholm tomorrow (Jan 2) for sparring with likes of Richard Lundby, Samuel Kebede, Karl Larsson-Jones and others. Walstad, a superbantam, and Jensen, a lightheavy, both have spots on the undercard to P 3 Boxing´s show in Helsinki January 16 topped by unbeaten jr middle Amin Asikainen and jr welter Juho Tolppola.

Newly crowned BeNeLux cruiser champ, Belgian Ismail Abdoul, has replaced Don Diego Poeder as challenger for EU champ Krzysztof Wlodarczyk. Wlodarczyk stopped Abdoul in the final round back in 02 in an IBF I/C titlefight but it was close on the scorcards after eleven.

A Swedish kick boxing / martial arts trainer have been sentenced to ten years in prison for attempting to smuggle 36 kilos of amphetamine across the Swedish border. This person have for one fight been associated with a professional boxers and this was enough for certain media to give proboxing another black eye.
