Euro-Beat Update: Juan Carlos Gomez Suspended in Germany!

The German Federation, the BDB, have handed out a one year suspension to Cuban heavy Juan Carlos Gomez for testing positive to cocaine after winning over Oliver McCall October 15, 2005. The suspension is in effect from December 16, 05, (the day the b-test came back positive) to December 16, 2006. The fight was fought under the supervision of the WBC though so the BDB have nothing to do with any change of the results.

There are rumors that the WBA will allow an intertim titlefight at lightheavy between Manny Siaca and Silvio Branco.

Dutch heavy Richel Hersisia have been signed up to Universum on a three fight deal. Hersisia have also been signed to 12rounds.de, the marketing and PR company owned by WBC champ Markus Beyer. Hersisia will take on Brazilian Rogerio Lobo January 14 in Aschersleben. Itīs a sign of how poorly Hersisia have been matched that Lobo represent a step up in level of competition.

Hungarian jr light Janos Nagy, the IBC champ and mandatory challenger for WBO titleholder Jorge Barrios, is back in full training after being sidelined with illness. He expects to fight a tuneup in February and then take on Barrios late April although there are no contracts signed yet.

Armin Dollinger won the inaugural GBA 175 title January 5 in Munich with wide points win over Ralf Riemer. The German Boxing Association have been going for two years now and have supervised 23 shows.

Spotlight Boxing promotes in Stuttgart February 28 with Alesia Graf on top going after the GBU bantam title.

Tough German cruiser Marco Huck have a spot on the undercard to Beyer vs Colajanni January 28 in Berlin.
