Wright wants control
Fighter fires promoter

Winky Wright on Monday refused to sign a contract to fight middleweight champion Jermain Taylor, then fired his promoter, Gary Shaw. Now Wright is negotiating with Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions for his next fight - which may or may not be against Taylor.
"I completely finished the deal, completely," said Taylor's promoter, Lou DiBella. The fight would have taken place in June at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. "Then Gary Shaw calls me and says, `I am no longer the promoter for Winky Wright.'
