WORLD BOXING COUNCIL NEWS

February 12, 2006 - Mexico City.
From WBC President Jose Sulaiman:

"I am very happy to announce the return home of Nellie Catalina Esper Sulaiman after she had been kidnapped for one year, eight months, and 12 days. Nellie, the only daughter of my only sister, has returned safe and well.

I would like to extend my most profound gratitude to so many friends in boxing that called and extended so many prayers to The Almighty for her safe return during such tragedy and sadness. This is the happiest day for the Esper Sulaimans, who will never forget the moral support and prayers received from so many friends in so many countries of the world, and is really the happiest day in my life in many, many years.

On behalf of the entire World Boxing Council, I would also like to extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to three families in our boxing community: ring official Marty Sammon and his family on the recent passing away of Marty's son; NABF vice president and member of the WBC Board of Governors Joe Dwyer and his family on the recent passing away of Joe's brother; and the family of Jack Fiske on the recent passing away of the great boxing writer."
