Emily Klinefelter won the 119 pound division, using a ferocious attacking style with combinations to the body and head to defeat Minnesota’s Amy Augedahl and Nebraska’s Amber Sloan, both via 2nd round stoppage.
Emily was named the tournament’s most outstanding female boxer. Despite her aggression, according to the computer scoring at the time of the 2nd round stoppages, in her two bouts combined, her opponents only landed a total of one punch. Emily was also elected as the regional athlete representative. Katy Klinefelter won the 125 pound division, defeating Wisconsin’s Donna Gallardo by unleashing a nonstop barrage of punches, forcing the referee to administer two standing 8 counts before stopping the contest in the very 1st round. According to the computer, at the time of the stoppage, Gallardo had not landed a single punch. Both Klinefelters are undefeated in regional competitions.
