HOUSTON - Zack Hegman, son of Cyber Boxing Zone writer Karl Hegman, won the Houston Karate White Belt Championship in the eight year old bracket held at the Barnett Fieldhouse.

Describing his son's victory, Hegman said, "He had to face a southpaw in the finals and it came down to the last point as they were all knotted up at 2 points apiece. The other kid threw a right hand back fist at him and Zack countered over the top with a left jab, and beat the kid to the punch by a fraction of a second.

"One judge called it a draw, but she was overruled by the head official that gave the match to Zack ruling that his punch had landed first."

Hegman continued, "We worked the pads for about 10 minutes prior to the tournament and I was emphasizing jabbing to him, and I think that proved to be the difference yesterday."

Congratulations to Zack Hegman for a victory well won!
