MARCH 31 - Boxing fans, don’t miss it on March 31, 2006, when boxing’s “Comeback Fighter of the Year” and former linear heavyweight champion, Shannon Briggs, 46-4-1 (40 KOs), will be throwing down live in the studio with host Brian Kenny on this week’s broadcast of ESPN2’s “Friday Night Fights.”

Always charismatic and entertaining, among other things, Briggs will be announcing his upcoming fight and speaking about his mission to become heavyweight king and re-invigorate the division.

This week’s live action, from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, will feature an exciting 12-round battle for the USBA Light Heavyweight Championship between former WBC Champion Montell “Ice” Griffin, 47-6 (30 KOs), and durable veteran “Stormin” Norman Jones, 28-14-3 (9 KOs) in the main event.

Briggs is currently rated #8 by the WBC and WBO, #12 by the WBA and #10 by the IBF and is in the midst of an impressive string of 10 consecutive knockout victories. The Brooklyn native has also made his mark in the recording industry, appeared in several feature films and won by knockout in Japan’s K-1 style of fighting.
