KIEL, Germany, April 8 - Lightheavy Thomas Ulrich floored Nicarguan Henry Saenz seconds into the first but had to settle for an unanimous decision after ten non-title rounds. It was scored 98-91 on two cards and 100-91 on the third. Saenz was tough and rattled Ulrich in the third and clearly stunned him in the sixth. Overall the German dominated the fight behind a fine jab and left hook.

Sinan Samil Sam regained the WBC Intīl heavyweight title with an unanimous decision over Brazilian George Arias. It was scored 118-112, 117-112 and 119-110. Sam, looking so fit and trim one wonder if he hadnīt overtrained, could never hurt his opponent and was a bit one paced in his work. Arias boxed smartly on the move and showed a big heart when the much bigger Turk poured it on. In the later rounds he landed with a few good counters.

"Sam is back" said manager Ahmet Oener. "we will look to get him into another WBC eliminator. He was official challenger for the EBU title but he is not that young anymore and we need to get him into the big picture fast."

Ukrainian Alexander Dimitrenko won the vacant WBO I/C title on scores of 118-110, 118-111 and 117-111 over experienced Dominican Fernely Feliz. Dimitrenko was wobbled in the third from a sneaky right hand but was a clear winner. Feliz, fighting with an injured right hand from the fourth round on, gave Alexander a good learning fight. Dimitrenko shows good moves but tends to armpunch and leaves himself open for counters.

Russian heavy Aleksander Alekseev again impressed as he took apart Ukrainian Alexander Subin for a stoppage win in the first.

There was a final ten count for former WBC and EBU jr middle champ Eckhard Dagge, who was born and raised not far from Kiel and fought his last profight there back in 1981.
