Flash News: 'Macho' Miguel Hernandez to Fight Yory Boy Campas!

By Juan C. Ayllon

CHICAGO - Popular Windy City middleweight "Macho" Miguel Hernandez left a voice mail yesterday stating that he has signed a contract to fight former IBF Junior Middleweight Titlist Luis Ramon "Yory Boy" Campas on July 15th. Details will follow.

In his last bout on April 29th, Hernandez, 19-4 and 9 knockouts, showed early aggression and heart as he went nine rounds with former IBF Jr. Middleweight Titlist Raul Marquez before being dropped and stopped short of the 10th and final round. Miguel said that afterwards, Marquez told him that he was one tough opponent, adding, "Look how swollen my hands are from hitting your head."

Hernandez currently holds the World Boxing Council United States Middleweight Title.

Campas, 87-8 and 71 knockouts, stopped Marquez in December 6, 1997 to win the IBF title, only to lose his title two years later to Fernando Vargas by stoppage in the eighth round.
